Summary

PERAC provides an updated list of public employees who are no longer statutorily eligible to join a Chapter 32 retirement system, pursuant to G.L. c. 32, §15. Under that section, members charged with misappropriation of funds, convicted of offenses related to governmental funds, or convicted of certain enumerated crimes may lose their right to a retirement allowance and/or accumulated total deductions. Newly added individuals appear in bold on the attached list. Boards with any of the forfeited members still active in their system should contact Kim Boisvert at 617-666-4446, ext. 906 with the last four digits of the member's Social Security number for verification.

TO: All Retirement Boards

RE: Forfeiture of Retirement Allowance for Dereliction of Duty by Members

As you are aware, under G.L. c. 32, §15, a member who is charged with misappropriation of funds or convicted of an offense related to funds of the governmental unit/system or of certain enumerated crimes or crimes related to the laws applicable to his/her office or position may lose the right to his/her retirement allowance and/or accumulated total deductions.

Attached please find an updated list of all public employees who are no longer statutorily eligible to join a C. 32 retirement system. For your convenience, the most recent individuals added to this list are in a bold font.

If you have any of the forfeited members on this list who are active in your system please contact Kim Boisvert at 617-666-4446 extension 906 with the last four of your respective member's social security number. She will notify you whether that member is the same member that has been forfeited.
