Subject: Application for a Waiver of Education Restrictions

Date: April 18, 2019

On January 10, 2019, the Massachusetts Legislature enacted Chapter 439 of the Acts of 2018 which amended G.L. c. 32, § 20(7). The Act now allows a retirement board member to petition the Commission for a waiver of training restrictions due to extenuating circumstances provided that the retirement board member completes the required 18 hours of training during their term.

Enclosed is the Commission's Application for a Waiver of Education Restrictions, which a retirement member can complete and submit to the Commission if they experience extenuating circumstances during their term. For your convenience, this form can be found on our website, mass.gov/perac, on the PERAC Compliance & Investments Forms page.
